Creating a Yard with Its Own Identity
Every equestrian property is different, and at Manor Farm the aim was to create stabling that complemented the character of its surroundings while providing a practical environment for the horses and people using it every day.
The finished yard combines rich hardwood boarding with elegant powder coated black steelwork, sweeping stable fronts and carefully considered finishing details.
Personalised elements and brass detailing add character throughout, resulting in stabling that feels distinctive to Manor Farm rather than simply following a standard formula.
Designed Around Horses and Everyday Yard Life
Beautiful stabling is only successful if it works well in everyday use.
Returning to Manor Farm allowed us to see the yard not as a newly completed installation, but as a working equestrian space.
Horses looking out from their stables, grooming, riding and the everyday activity around the yard gave us an opportunity to capture something that isn’t always possible immediately after installation: the finished space being lived in.
That is ultimately what good stable design should achieve.
The layout, stable fronts and individual details all contribute towards an environment designed around the horses while remaining practical for the people caring for them.
The Details That Make a Project Individual
One of the most striking aspects of Manor Farm is the attention to detail.
The combination of hardwood boarding, black steelwork, sweeping lines, personalised name boards and brass finishing touches creates a traditional yet distinctive appearance.
During our return visit, we were also able to see how the owners have continued to make the yard their own.
Since Monarch completed the installation, the customer has added lighting to the tops of the stable posts, introducing a softer, atmospheric feel to the yard. The lighting complements the original stabling beautifully and demonstrates how a thoughtfully designed space can continue to evolve once the owners begin living and working within it.
Why Monarch Equestrian?
During our visit, we also sat down with the customer to talk about the project and, importantly, why Monarch Equestrian was chosen to create the stabling at Manor Farm.
Hearing about a project directly from the person who commissioned and now uses it provides a perspective that photographs alone cannot.
From those initial decisions and conversations through to seeing the completed yard in everyday use, the Manor Farm project demonstrates the importance of considering not only how a stable yard will look, but how it will work for the horses, property and people using it.
From Design to Installation
For more than 60 years, Monarch Equestrian has been designing and manufacturing equestrian products and facilities here in Britain.
Our projects range from individual stable doors and internal stabling through to bespoke stable yards, American Barns, horse exercisers and complete equestrian facilities.
For larger projects such as Manor Farm, working closely with the customer from the outset allows the design to respond to the property, horses and individual requirements of the yard.

Seeing Manor Farm One Year On
The real measure of an equestrian project comes after the installation team has left.
Seeing Manor Farm approximately a year later gave us the opportunity to see the stabling settled into its surroundings, personalised further by its owners and, most importantly, being used and enjoyed by the horses it was designed for.
We would like to thank the team at Mark and his family at Manor Farm, for welcoming us back and allowing us to capture a glimpse of everyday life at the yard.
